CT Scan - What it is For


We always hear about patients having to go through a CT Scan in Singapore. For us who don't know what a Computed Tomography or CT Scan is, here is the basic lowdown of this medical procedure that we or somebody close to us might take in the future. Imagine a tube where you put a stick inside. Now magnify this tube over and over again until a whole human body can be pushed inside the tube. This is a rough picture of a CT Scan. It is a huge tube where a patient lies on his back and lies still until the bed that he is lying on is pushed inside the tube for a scan.

While inside, an X-ray tube rotates unlike the normal X-ray where you only see one side of the body being scanned, a CT Scan can see all the angles and everything that the Doctor needs to see to form his diagnosis. The ct scan in Singapore is usually the top of line and can take about 1,000 pictures of the part of the body that needs to be scanned. These pictures will then be compiled so that it allow the doctors to every angle and detail.

The usual people who are asked to undergo a CT scan at those who have medical conditions that require the doctor to see what is inside, conditions like heart disease, stroke, reproductive conditions, gastrointestinal conditions and anything that has to do with the bones, tissues and blood vessels of a person.
